About this work
A cluster of small round red fruit fills a faceted crystal bowl set on a dark tabletop, several pieces still attached to thin, gently curling stems that arch above the rim. The bowl's cut-glass pattern is faintly visible through the fruit, and the composition is lit from the upper left against an almost solid black background.
Deep crimson and maroon tones are built up with soft pastel layering, with small white highlights marking the glossy skins. The heavy darkness surrounding the fruit and glass creates a hushed, mysterious mood, isolating the small harvest like a single point of light.
